Katrina Bowers (BSHE 1984, Consumer Economics)

Katrina dedicated 30 years of service to UGA, starting with the Cooperative Extension Service in Lanier County before moving into development work. She served as the Senior Director of Development for both the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and the Terry College of Business, leaving a lasting impact on the university and its students.

Avery Monthero (BSFCS 2017, Human Development and Family Science)

Avery graduated from UGA in 2017 with a degree in Human Development and Family Science. Since then, she has dedicated her career to improving the well-being of others through her work at Delta Air Lines and her continued involvement with UGA and the community.

In 2021, she became the program lead, managing 100 volunteers and launching impactful initiatives like the Black Women’s Mental Health Roadshow and a new suicide prevention protocol for flight attendants.

Her dedication to service extends far beyond her work at Delta. Avery volunteers with Wellspring Living’s Girls Residential Program, where she teaches life skills to young survivors of human trafficking, focusing on communication, conflict resolution, and leadership while providing a safe and supportive space for these girls to grow and heal.

  • FACS Appreciation Award

Given to an individual or organization that has contributed significantly to the support of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences either financially, programmatically or legislatively.

    Anne Barge Clegg

Anne, a Cordele native, moved to Boston after graduating from UGA, honing her craft with the legendary Priscilla of Boston. Anne later opened her own store, Anne Barge For Brides, in Atlanta, successfully running it for 13 years before selling it to Kleinfeld, the famed bridal salon featured on Say Yes to the Dress.

In 1999, Anne launched the Anne Barge label, which has since gained international acclaim over its 25-year history for timeless designs and elegant bridal wear. Her collections are celebrated for blending classic aesthetics with modern sensibility, making her one of the most respected names in the bridal fashion world.

Beyond her contributions to fashion, Anne has shown a deep commitment to preserving fashion history. In 2024, she pledged a gift to the University of Georgia to enhance the College of Family and Consumer Sciences’ Historic Clothing and Textile Collection, housed at the UGA Special Collections Libraries. In recognition of her generosity, the collection will be named the Anne Barge Historic Clothing and Textile Collection. This esteemed collection includes approximately 3,000 objects — garments, accessories, and textiles — spanning from the 1800s to the present day.

An exhibit of dresses and materials donated by Anne will be showcased at the UGA Special Collections Libraries in late 2026, highlighting her enduring impact on both fashion and education.

Anne’s career is a true testament to the power of creativity, wisdom, and passion for paying it forward to the next generation.
