Parenting Education

Being the parent of an adolescent brings new and different challenges. Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) Extension agents in many counties provide parenting education programs to help parents meet the needs of their adolescents. FACS Agents in some counties also provide parenting education specifically targeted for teen parents.

Communicating with Your Teen

You probably have a teenager in your house if there is talk about dating, driving, telephone use, curfew, drugs, sex, music, friends....These are common topics, which arise when children enter their teenage years. They are a lot easier to manage when parents and teens can talk with each other about them. The Principles of Parenting series includes fact sheets to help parents communicate with their teen.

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

Although there is a generation gap between teens and grandparents, there is no reason for you and your grandchild to drift apart as she gets older. Teens look to you as a role model for the ways they should behave. The Grandparents Raising Grandchildren series includes a variety of fact sheets to help grandparents who are providing primary care for their grandchildren of all ages, from infants to teens.
