College Update 4/1/25
April 1, 2025
We had a wonderful College Assembly last week! Thank you for your attendance.
It was such a joy to recognize our award winners. Please know how much we appreciate your work and are proud of you! The provost presented information about the state of the university and answered questions about recent events and their effects on the university.
To continue the conversation I had with faculty about recent federal actions and research, we are planning a panel of senior FACS researchers presenting helpful information for our current moment. Please be on the lookout for time and place. This panel was the idea of your colleagues who attended the session with me a few weeks ago.
If you have any contact with federal grant administrators or ideas for future programming, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
It was accidental genius that our College Assembly aligned with Dawg Day of Giving, and your eager involvement helped propel FACS to win several challenges, further increasing our impact.
Thanks to the enthusiastic participation of our alumni, staff, and faculty, we not only hit our goal of 350 gifts, but exceeded it—raising an additional $9,500!
We are still waiting for the final numbers, but we will be sure to pass this along when we hear! Your generosity and encouragement made all the difference. Thank you for supporting FACS and inspiring others to do the same!
Not to repeat what I said at the College Assembly, but I do want to say that the number of students majoring in FACS has increased substantially and is now at 2,027 students! This increase is relevant to how great it is to have had a successful Dawg Day of Giving, because more students means that events cost more.
We have signed a contract to have both our fall 2025 and our spring 2026 convocations at the Classic Center as we have outgrown the Georgia Center! We are excited to see y’all at convocation this spring at the Classic Center!
Financial Literacy Day on the Lawn
We are hosting Financial Literacy Day on the Lawn on Wednesday, April 9, from 12-3 p.m. on Myers Quad.
Join the Love and Money Center, the Department of Financial Planning, Housing and Consumer Economics, and UGA Well-Being Resources for an afternoon of fun, music, food and lots of great financial information, resources and activities! Students, staff and faculty welcome!
The event is part of Financial Literacy and Well-Being Week. For questions, contact Megan Ford at rayford@uga.edu
New marketing materials available
We have created a new page for all of the marketing materials you might need, including branded templates for PowerPoint presentations, digital signage, event announcements, research posters and more.
Use of many of the materials will require a Canva account. You can create an account for free if you don’t already have one.
The page also includes helpful information on ordering branded swag, requesting a project from our communications team and how to best share news and events.
Contact Brandi (brandi.herrin@uga.edu) if you have any questions.

Faculty: if you can attend, please let us know so we can share with alumni who are excited to see us in the area. Your presence would make the event even more special!
