Activities

DanceFX holds a special place in my heart, as it welcomed me into the world of dance when I began my journey as an adult. The studio has been incredibly supportive, offering extensive opportunities for adult beginners, and I am now a member of their company, Xpression, where I study ballet, pointe, and jazz. Outside of dance, I enjoy reading and writing fiction books and painting, primarily landscapes. I also love to study foreign languages: right now I am in the process of becoming proficient in Russian. My passion for cooking and nutrition started as a pastime but evolved into a meaningful career that allows me to contribute to my community. I enjoy volunteering with Campus Kitchen, UGarden, and the Athens Farmers Market, where I can support local food initiatives and promote wellness.

Why I chose my major

I switched my major three times before finding dietetics almost by chance at the bottom of a list of options. Seeing it felt like a sign, and from the moment I walked into Dawson Hall, I knew I’d found the right path. I enjoy every aspect of nutrition and dietetics, and I’ve gained hands-on experience across research, community outreach, clinical settings, and food service. My ultimate goal is to help children achieve healthier lives. Growing up in a family with limited nutritional knowledge had a significant impact on my health, and I want to give children the head start I didn’t have. I believe that food is medicine, and I’m excited to help others experience how transformative it can be.

What I like most about FACS

My favorite part of FACS is its small, close-knit community, which has given me a true sense of belonging at a large university like UGA. With so many students, it can be challenging to find a group you genuinely connect with, but FACS has provided that supportive network. The dietetics program is incredibly comprehensive, covering many career-relevant topics. The faculty’s dedication to students stands out as they offer the academic support needed to succeed and continuously maintain lasting relationships with alumni, guiding and supporting them in their careers. This level of commitment is inspiring and makes FACS feel like a lifelong community.

Post-graduation plans

My immediate goal after graduation is to complete my Master’s in Community Nutrition from UGA and, ideally, secure a dietetic internship at Emory University. I aspire to work as a pediatric dietitian at the Children's Hospital of Atlanta. I am confident that the interpersonal skills and in-depth nutrition knowledge I’ve gained at UGA will provide a strong foundation for success, both in my career and in making a meaningful impact on children's health.
