Human Development and Family Science
Well-rounded education in HDFS helped prepare Terry for life
- Major/year graduated
- BSFCS in Human Development, 2019
- Current occupation/location
- Project Manager, KIPP Atlanta Schools
- What do you love about your current role?
- No day is the same. Although most people see a project manager as an individual contributor role, there's much more to the role, depending on the organization.
- How did your time at FACS help prepare you for your life or career?:
- My time in FACS helped me 1. understand how individuals grow, interact, and respond to change, 2. see both individual needs and the bigger system, and 3. focus on how families, communities, and systems are affected.
- What advice would you give current students who aspire to a similar career?
- Your classes help keep you empathetic and human. HDFS, coupled with getting additional knowledge through certifications, enables you to interact with different industries.
- Who was your favorite or most memorable faculty member and why?
- Dr. Melissa Kozak. She and Dr. Jennifer George took an interest in me during my time in undergrad and gave me a boost in my many pathways. I asked a lot of questions in undergrad.
- What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were a student?
- There's no place like UGA. There's no place like FACS. I wish I would have joined the college earlier and been able to be a FACS Ambassador.
