Why I chose my major

I chose nutritional sciences as my major because I want to expose myself to ways our health can be maintained and improved through food and eating patterns. As someone on a pre-PA track, I believe that the courses I take are crucial for my understanding of certain metabolic pathways, as well as working through case studies and gaining insight as to how important diet and culture are to one’s identity. Promoting a healthy lifestyle through the food we eat is something I have become very passionate about, and I intend to carry that passion throughout my professional life and beyond. It took me a long time to find my place at UGA, but once I switched my major and entered FACS, I knew I was where I was meant to be.

What I like most about FACS

The heart of a college are the people who run it. The FACS faculty are all so passionate about what they do and are always willing to go above and beyond to support their students and encourage their learning. The educators here make me feel excited to attend class and have never doubted my capabilities. They want to see you thrive. FACS has made me feel prepared to enter the healthcare field, and I know even post-grad they will always have my back!
