Why I chose my major

Since childhood, I have been fascinated with fashion and it has been an integral part of my life and who I am. At the age of eight, I eagerly grew to love the art of sewing from my grandmothers, which created the strong passion I have for fashion today. As I grew older, I developed a clear vision of entrepreneurship and a desire to own my own business in the fashion industry. I made the conscious decision to pursue a major in Fashion Merchandising with an emphasis in Product Design and Development. This choice marks a significant stride toward my main goal of owning and operating my own fashion enterprise.

What I like most about FACS

I love how small FACS is in terms of class sizes and community. You really get the chance to develop relationships and get to know your professors and peers over the years. I also love how my Fashion Merchandising major has so many diverse classes, and you can apply to be on a pathway of either Product Design and Development or Brand Management based on your interests but get classroom experience with both topics.

Post-graduation plans

After graduation, I will be pursuing a master's in accounting and soon after completing my master's I will be relocating to Houston, Texas to work for an accounting firm. I will continue to exercise my passion of making and designing clothing in my spare time and eventually I plan to open my own fashion company.
