What do you love about your current role?

There are many different reasons I love my role at BFG, but if I had to choose one, I would say I love that this role challenges me. We work in a very collaborative environment. Although clients are assigned to advisors, each advisor in the firm works together to look over plans, strategize, and offer insights. This culture of teamwork pushes me to reach my full potential and helps me to deliver the highest level of service to my clients. I learn something new almost every day, from innovative planning techniques to more effective ways of connecting with clients. Being part of such a supportive and knowledgeable team keeps me motivated and excited about the work we do.

How did your time at FACS help prepare you for your life or career?:

The program gave me a strong foundation in the financial planning process and deepened my technical knowledge. I gained confidence in client conversations and learned how to apply what I was learning directly to real-world situations. The coursework aligned closely with what I do at BFG, particularly in developing comprehensive financial plans. Earning my CFP® certification was a major milestone, and the program was instrumental in preparing me for that. The program also helped me build a network of peers who continue to be great sounding boards.

What advice would you give current students who aspire to a similar career?

My best piece of advice is to use your time at FACS wisely. Take advantage of opportunities to network and challenge yourself to apply what you’re learning to real-world settings. Don’t be afraid to share your successes and experiences with others. It will build your confidence and open doors for future connections. Lastly, make an effort to connect with your peers while you're still in the program. Building those relationships can become more difficult after graduation, but they can be incredibly valuable throughout your career.

Who was your favorite or most memorable faculty member and why?

Dr. Mary Carlson is my most memorable faculty member. She had a unique ability to make financial planning relatable, and she offered practical advice on how to communicate with different kinds of clients and the challenges they can bring. She helped bridge the emotional and educational aspects of finance, and showed me that financial planning is just as much about people as it is about numbers. Dr. Carlson also served as a strong example of how women can differentiate themselves and thrive in the field, which left a lasting impact on me.
