- Why I chose my major
I started college as a Public Health, Pre-Medicine major, but I quickly realized I was searching for something different. I found exactly what I was looking for in HDFS. The program offered a unique opportunity to explore comprehensive development, both past and present theories, and deepen my understanding of family and individual relationships. I discovered that my interest in the medical field could be fulfilled through the specialization of child life, which allowed me to combine my passion for healthcare with my desire to support families in meaningful ways. Throughout my time in HDFS, I not only gained invaluable knowledge but also built lasting friendships, all while gaining clarity about my goals for life after graduation.
- What I like most about FACS
What I appreciate most about the FACS is its unwavering commitment to both its students and the broader community. Since switching my major in my freshman year, I’ve never looked back. I've built meaningful friendships, had inspiring professors, and taken enriching classes that have shaped my academic journey. The college’s dedication to fostering strong connections between alumni and current students, as well as the local community through service learning courses, is something I truly value. As I approach graduation, I’m proud to soon join the ranks of FACS alumni and carry forward the sense of community and support that has defined my experience here.
- Post-graduation plans
After graduation, I plan to pursue a child life internship and work at a nonprofit organization. I am deeply grateful for my time at this college, as it has been instrumental in shaping both my academic and personal growth. The opportunities I’ve had here have thoroughly prepared me for the next chapter in my journey, and I am excited to make a meaningful impact in both the nonprofit and child development fields.
