Why I chose my major

I love telling the story of how I got into financial planning. I started at UGA as a Math Education major, but later switched to Mathematics which the intention of pursuing the Math Ed. Double Dawgs program. I was in the science library studying for what was probably a Calc III test when I overheard these girls talking about their project. After Googling the textbook they were working out of and letting curiosity get the best of me, I decided to ask them what they were working on, and they gladly introduced me to the Financial Planning major. I did more research that day, and in my second semester of sophomore year I finally committed to the major. Financial Planning combines what I loved about teaching and math, but also incorporated my long-lived love for personal finance, which was something I had no idea I could even study in college.

What I like most about FACS

In addition to the amazing people within the college who easily created the welcoming environment I was looking for, the opportunities FACS and the Financial Planning Department specifically has provided is something I don't think I could have found anywhere else at UGA. The personal and professional growth I have experienced is tremendous, and it is all thanks to my peers, the faculty, and all the resources made available to us.

Post-graduation plans

I am looking forward to working with Homrich Berg as an Associate later this summer!
