Why I chose my major

I graduated with my undergraduate degree in Fashion Merchandising from UGA in December 2023. When I was working on this degree, I became very interested in the more analytical side of the fashion industry (trend forecasting, marketing, data analysis, etc.) I knew I wanted to further my education at UGA beyond my bachelor’s degree, and when I learned about the consumer analytics master’s program, I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. It has been incredibly helpful learning programs like Excel, SAS on Demand, SPSS and Python to help analyze sets of data. Through this program, I have been able to combine my love and passion for fashion with my interest in data analysis.

What I like most about FACS

The faculty and staff! I have been a FACS major the entire time I have been here at UGA, and I have gotten to know a lot of the incredible professors and other staff who work in Dawson Hall. Everyone is so friendly and kind and supportive of every student who walks through those doors. You can tell that they want you to succeed and get joy out of watching you be successful, whether that be inside or outside of school.

Post-graduation plans

I am planning on getting experience through an internship over the summer, and then in August, get a full-time position, ideally combining my love for fashion and data analytics. Eventually, I would love to come back to UGA and complete my Ph.D. in a few years once I get some work experience under my belt.
