Study Abroad Opportunity

A great opportunity to intern abroad is offered through London Study Abroad. Students have interned with international fashion designers, retailers and fashion promotion companies. This is a 6 week internship worth 3 hours credit as a TXMI elective.

Locate an Internship

There are several sources that you can use to locate internships. The Career Planning and Placement Center at UGA can provide names, contact information, and internship information for a variety of companies suitable for you. You can also participate in the Fashion Merchandising Internship Program where you will be exposed to a variety of companies that extend internships specifically to Fashion Merchandising students at UGA.

Requirements

If you are interested, you must enroll in TXMI 5900: Professional Development for the Fashion Industry during fall semester your Junior year. You will arrange your internship with final approval of suitability given by the Internship Coordinator. Requirements for an internship include: completion of prerequisite courses, maintaining a minimum GPA in the major, and completion of an Internship Application Packet.

Your internship will take place during summer semester. The internship is worth 3-6 credit hours of TXMI 5910. You will work a minimum of 150-300 hours and complete assignments and employment evaluations. Internship sponsors may have additional requirements that you must meet.
